Lets Talk about Kids Goggles

SO ... Let’s talk GOGGLES! With the year off to a running start, Easter and Summer Holidays are only round the corner so I wanted to talk about kids goggles. As you know I have two daughters, holidays consist of all three of us getting in the pool about 10 minutes after breakfast, leaving for about 15 minutes around lunchtime, then another 5 minutes later in the afternoon for ice cream otherwise we are solidly in the pool the entire day!! I am a big kid, and I am forever finding new games to play in the pool, diving games, Lilo games, floating games, water dancing games – you name it and I have made it into a funny pool game!

What is it with Goggles and Kids Long Hair?

I love holidays and pool time so much, but … I can tell you what’s not funny ... trying to detangle knotted goggles in my daughter's hair, in fact trying to detangle her hair full stop is not funny, nor is broken goggles straps, nor is water in the eyes from leaky goggles and nor is (and this might be my all-time least favourite …) red goggles marks around the eyes when trying to get the perfect holiday snaps!

When I tell you we went through hundreds of pairs of childrens goggles, finding the right ones that mean you can enjoy swim time was not an easy task, in fact it happened by accident. We were on holiday in the USA and had taken our selection of UK bought kids goggles like always and by day three they had all broken, straps wouldn’t secure, and they all leaked! The girls were miserable as it was a saltwater pool, and they really couldn’t get their heads under the water without goggles and our swim time fun had been put on hold!

That night we ventured to the local village for food but with goggles as a number one buying priority (although according to my wife, she thought Abercrombie & Fitch was number one!)

We came across Splash Swim Kids Goggles, the first thing that caught our eye was the vast options of patterns on this think headband, to suit any child’s interests from Mermaid or Unicorn to Cosmo and Dinosaur (currently we stock 30 different colours and patterns to choose from!) then upon talking to the lady who owned the shop she started telling us all about them. The headband, made from swimsuit fabric is soft and covers the entire back of the head, this not only spreads out the pressure of the goggles around the eyes but also doesn’t knot or tangle the hair for your child. Instantly I had a light bulb moment and couldn’t believe I had never seen them before; the girls chose one pair each and we were excited to test them the next day! The lady then proceeded to tell us (and she wasn’t lying!) how the lenses were anti fog high visibility, shatter resistant polycarbonate, Hypo-allergenic and Latex & PVC free, perfect for all children.

Next morning the girls even wore them down to breakfast! We then went straight into the pool and for the first time ever the spiel the lady gave me in the store was actually real.

The goggles did not pull tight over my children's hair, the traditional rubber straps that rubs and knots long hair was no longer a problem, this thick, soft headband covered the head, and their hair didn’t tangle! The goggles were so comfy and because the fabric is stretchy, they even fitted me without too much alteration. The goggles fitted so nicely over the nose, were soft and comfortable to wear and didn’t leak! The patterns looked great in photos too!

The next night we went back to the store and bought 2 more pairs – I was determined to have spares for friends (and me!) and for the next holidays ahead!!

We got chatting again to the lady who put us in touch with the owner of the company – we just knew this was a product that we needed in the happy house … fast forward 3 years and we are selling record quantities and getting amazing feedback every year!
